Itinerary

Día 1. QUITO

Transfer to the hotel with assistance. Clients will be received at national or international exit gate with our airport sign. The newest Quito airport is located around 40 kms of the city center (around 1 hour driving). Accommodation and overnight.

Día 2. OTAVALO + COTACACHI

08:30 Departure from your hotel, heading north of the country and visit the “Ponchos’ square” locate in Otavalo where handicrafts market and fabrics. Visit Cotacachi and its leather goods stores, on the way we will enjoy the Andean landscapes that overlook the Lake San Pablo and the volcanoes Imbabura and Cayambe, is practically a shopping tour with lots of folklore. If time allows, you could have a short visit to the waterfall or the town of Peguche .Be sure to try the “Biscuits and Leaf Cheese in Cayambe”. Return to Quito

Día 3. QUITO + MIDDLE OF THE WORLD CITADEL + CABLE CAR + HANDICRAFT MARKET.

08:30 Pick up from hotels and visit of the Historic Center walking through Plaza Grande, Government Palace, The Company of Jesus $ 5, Plaza, church and abbey of San Francisco, Mirador del Panecillo follow transfer and visit of the citadel Middle of the World and the Monument of the Ecuador Line *. Visit the Museum “Intiñan”. Return to Quito and stop at the Cable Car *. Who decides to do so will reach the top of Cruz Loma where they will observe Quito and surroundings at 4050 meters above sea level.
End of the tour, we can leave the clients at the hotel or Craft Market and the return will be on their own.

* Because it is a full day visit it is likely according to the weather, the guide decides to start the visits scheduled by the Middle of the World and end up in the city.

Día 4. AVENUE OF THE VOLCANOES

08:30 Departure from the hotel. We will take the Panamericana south highway from Quito to Riobamba. On the road we will appreciate the magnificence of some volcanoes and snowcaps such as Antisana, Cotopaxi, Ilinizas, Tungurahua and Chimborazo. Stop at an indigenous market depending on the day  ( they don’t open every day ) and we will shortly see colonial cities such as Latacunga and Riobamba. If the group is interested we could visit Quisapincha, small village specialized in leather articles with good quality and affordable prices. Accommodation and overnight.

Día 5. RIOBAMBA - ALAUSI - CUENCA

08:00 Departure from Riobamba direction to Alausí, where we will board the train (daily departures scheduled 11:00), there we will enjoy an adventure by going through the exciting “Devil’s Nose”, after the train ride and depending on the weather/ time we can visit by bus the archaeological ruins Cañaris – Incas de Ingapirca “, ($ 6.00 entrance fee not included)
Arrival in Cuenca, accommodation and overnight.

Día 6. CUENCA

08:30 Visit the city of Cuenca, declared a Unesco World Heritage Site for its architectural wealth, the marvelous landscapes and irrigated by four rivers. Visit the “Museum of Aboriginal or Ethnographic Cultures”. By afternoon you will have the vehicle for visit of interesting factories such as the hat factory and the nearby town of GUALACEO with its “Orquidearium” and the jewelers in CHORDELEG. Back to hotel and overnight.

Día 7. CUENCA - GUAYAQUIL

07:30 Departure to Guayaquil, we will enjoy the beautiful landscape of the Sanctuary of the Cajas area. An opportunity to see bananas plantations and rice fields. In Guayaquil in the afternoon we will visit the city and its main monuments such as the new Malecon 2000 in front of the Guayas River and visit to Santa Ana Hill. At night we recommend a boat excursion on board of Morgan pirate ship or a round on La Perla Wheel (ask prices). Accommodation and overnight.

Día 8. GUAYAQUIL

Transfer to airport for final departure.
